Happy December

Hope all of you are doing well and not stressing yourselves out, Ha Ha. Yes, we all do it no matter what we tell ourselves.

Our antiques show last weekend was a hit, best one that we have had at this venue. Now its time to get ready for the next one which is in early March, never too early to start buying those treasures that our wonderful customer's are looking for.

I have not started to decorate yet :-(  around the house so I thought that maybe I would start with my blog and that will get me started.

Have a wonderful and festive weekend no matter what you do. Just take care of yourself.

Happy Thanksgiving

Wishing all of my friends near and far, a Happy Thanksgiving.

Here are some pictures from around Ginnysyard. We are getting ready for a antiques show this weekend. This is one of our favorites. Wish us luck, taking lots of different stuff, furniture, textiles, advertising, industrial.

Have a great weekend everyone.

My little girl.

Our pond with a dusting of snow on Tuesday morning. And yes that is a thin layer of ice under the snow.

Our pewter hutch, captured this shot later in the day.

October

First day of October, the beginning of the last quarter for the year of 2013. Where does it go?

I surely don't have the answer! It seems like it was just Labor Day. I guess the saying "Time flys when you are having fun", really is true.

Les and I have been busy, busy with working for the auctioneers, which is our FUN, lol.

Enjoy your day friends.

Hey It's Friday

Hopefully many have the day off today, but I know my retail gals are hard at work and for them I wish big dollar sales today, lol.

I was back outside this morning pulling more weeds and cutting back stuff, where does it all come from. My yard is in serious trouble, with all the rain that we have been having and then if its not raining we are usually working. So, now I am left with a big mess, too embrassed to show before pictures but maybe some after pictures we will see.

I have errands to run today, so I need to step it up. Have a wonderful day my friends.

Happy 4th of July

Hope everyone is enjoying their day. Firecrackers are going off already in our neck of the woods. Cats are not happy, me neither, it gets quite and I forget and then BANG and I jump about six feet. But, that's what part of the day is all about I guess.

Worked in the yard for a bit this morning before I said enough of this sweaty work, lol. Just hanging out, Sausage, Peppers, Onions and Tomatoes are simmering on the stove for dinner.

Enjoy your evening. Talk to you soon.

Hazy, Hot and Humid

Please note: I may have posted to the Herbal Bouquet in error, see I said I get squirrely from being in the AC too long.

So, let's try this again. Yep the three H's are upon us. And if you have not been warm enough, the Dog Days of Summer began today. We have been getting rain just about every day or night for weeks now, and it appears that we are in this strange weather pattern thru Wednesday of next week.

Les and I have just come off a busy June full of auctions and pic-ups for the auctions. So, we are looking for a bit of down time. But, Summer is the time for auctions and since we making this one source of our income, guess where we will be in July?  We will be doing our weekly Tuesday auction a pick-up with one of the auctioneers and then another auction mid-July, so we won't have too much down time. And when the rain stops or lets up a bit I need to go outside with a big ole weed wacker and wack away, lol.

We wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. Enjoy your day with family and friends and be safe.

Talk to you all real soon.

Tuesday Auction

Yep, today like every Tuesday Les and I get to work at Tom Lorah Auction. And every once in awhile we get something that we collect (oh lordy) and something to pass on to our customers. Hope you all have a wonderful day. If I get any great finds, I will give you gals a peek.

Really, I should start snapping pictures of what we have for sale around here. LOL

Weather around here may get wet, so I will be packing my umbrella.

Catch-up at Ginnysyard

It has been over a month since I last posted. I read everyone's blog but just didn't have the get up and go to post on mine :-(. But last nite I was going thru my blog roll and realized that one of my favorite blogs was no longer in operation, So, I got thinking I better hold on to the 21 followers that I have and give you ladies a update.

So, since I last posted this is what has happened;

Les and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary, not sure where all those years went!

We now have a new great, great niece named Teagen Lakota, that is a mouth full. Baby and Mom are doing good.

Mother's Day, Family and Friends Birthdays.

Full Strawberry Moon, I hear local strawberries are in, need to get some of those.

Booked our Late Spring/Summer schedule with our two auctioneers. Boy are we going to be busy bees :-).

Got the screened porch pretty much ready for some serious porch sitting with family and friends.

Memorial Day of which Les and I worked two auctions that weekend.

And now we are smack in the middle of a heat wave, in the SPRING!!

Coming up for us is work tomorrow, a pick-up with one of our auctioneers.

Les's Birthday on Monday.

A fun filled June with auctions o'plenty, lol.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and weekend.

I really am going to try to do better, but you will notice I did not mention my yard. Can anyone guess what did not get done this past month.

Full Pink Moon

Tonite, April 25, 2013 will be the night of the Full Pink Moon.

Named the Pink Moon because it heralded the appearance of the moss pink, or wild ground phlox-one of the first spring flowers.

Others names are Full Sprouting Grass Moon (yep that would be my yard), Full Egg Moon, Full Fish Moon.

I wonder if it is called Full Egg Moon because chickens start laying more? Thoughts on this chicken gals?

And maybe it was called Full Fish Moon because fish become active? Our pond is getting active. We are starting to see more fish swimming and yesterday a fish jumped out to catch a bug. Never get to see them but we do hear them do this.

Just might be something to these other names.....

Have a great night, go out and check that moon out, I know I will.

More photo's of our Booth

Here are some additional photo's of our booth. I should add that some of the items in these photo's sold two days after I shot these. Now that is what we call a quick turn around. BIG SMILE.

The pile of wood items (really shutters and some type of wood hangers) were a few of the items that sold. We really have very good luck with any type of shutters that we sell. Hey maybe I am selling them too cheap, lol.

The blue and white bowl in the lower right corner is another item that sold. It is from Bavaria/Germany, good shape, no chips.

As you can see, still plenty of items, but this week I will be taking more in and moving things around. A day in the life of a antiques dealer who has lots of stuff, lol.

Have a great day!! Off to work at our Tuesday Auction and maybe find another treasure of two. Oh wait, didn't I just say we have too much stuff!!! Ha Ha

Our Booth

From time to time I have spoken about our booth at Weil Antique Center and I thought it was about time I give you gals a look at what we have to offer. Our booth is a 9 x 10, I believe.

This is a picture of the back wall. The wire basket/shelf things are not old, but I got them at a good price and sometimes I can move things like that.

Who doesn't love chicken crates. It's been awhile seen we have been able to pick any up, but we got this one at our Tuesday Auction that Les and I work at.

Les and I both love signs, very surprised that this has not moved on yet. Also, in this picture is tobacco tins, buttons in mason jars, band boxes (not old) and a serving set of blue willow on the wall table.
So, there you have it. I have more but I don't want to bore everyone with photo's and this way I have more for another post.

While not all our merchandise is antique, it is what is selling in our region currently. And one must go with the flow or go broke :-).

Have a wonderful rest of the day and a good evening. Is is beautiful out here in Williams Township, PA.

Life with a Pond

Life with a one acre pond can be fun (if you have a row boat).

Life with a one acre pond can be sad (like when a snapping turtle bites your ducks foot).

Life with a one acre pond can be hard work. A couple of times during the year, especially at the beginning of Spring we need to clean the outlet of all the Winter debris and get the water moving again. If we don't do this we have a very soggy yard and with Spring rains we don't want the yard to be flooded. Cleaning the outlet means you put on your old clothes, your Wellies grab your rake and saw. The saw is to cut all of the Willow roots that clog the outlet. Willow roots are the toughest thing I have ever seen. It gets so matted that it looks like carpet, brown soggy carpet that is. But we got the water moving and we will check on it tomorrow to see how we did.

But, life with a one acre pond can you smile. Today while we were out we got to see where Mrs. Canada Goose is nesting. Guess where? Yes you got very close to the outlet. She will need to keep a eye on those goslings once they are hatched or off they will go. We also had a visitor today. A male Common Goldeneye (picture is below). What a swimmer and diver he is, fun to watch. And of course the day would not be complete without a pair of mallards to join in on the fun. Mr. Goose is not fond of all the visitors and let everyone know it. Oh the honking!!!

Life with a one acre pond......Interesting.

Happy Easter

As I type this, it is pouring rain outside. Hope all the kids and grandkids got to have their Easter egg hunts before the rains came. Below is a few pictures from Ginnysyard on Easter morning. First up, Mr. Goose enjoying his morning corn. Mrs. Goose is sitting on a nest across the pond.

Above is my little girl, also the last duck that we have. She is doing pretty good on her own. She just woke up and is waiting for her breakfast of peas and cracked corn.

She blends in with her water dish, but if you look close (real close, lol) you can see her peas. She fishes around for them in the water and then eats some more with her corn.

Hope everyone had/has a wonderful Easter. Take care, see you soon.

Full Moon

Good Day Everyone. I noticed today that I last posted on the first weekend of this month. And here it is just about the last weekend of the month.

Have not felt much like posting, being in a funk. Can't get moving. I am sure the weather does have something to do with it, but still can't make myself get on with stuff.

I am still working part-time and I need to resign myself that this is what it will be until there is no more company. One would think that getting paid for four days work and doing about one day of work would make me happy. But, no just not cutting it. How silly is this?

Full moon tonite will be the Full Worm Moon. It is called this because as the Sun increasingly warms the soil, earthworms become active. Okay, now all we need is the Sun!

Happy Passover to all of my Jewish friends.

Maybe I can push myself to come back before Easter, we will see.

First weekend of March

Good Evening All, We are gearing up for a busy weekend. We set-up at the Governor Wolf Historical Society today for our first antique show of the 2013 season. It was great to see many friends that we have not seen since last year. I will be my lonesome tomorrow as Les has a pick-up to do with one of the auctioneer's that we work for. But, I'm up for it as I will be surround by friends who are always eager to help out. Wish us luck! I already sold a cast iron Santa while we were setting up, so maybe that is a omen that we will have a good show.

Talk to you soon. Have a great night and weekend.

Another Passing

It is with a sad heart that I tell you my friends that Ginnysyard has lost another duck. She was 13 plus years old and my healthy one. Her sister stayed with her all day and is very lost without her this evening. We have lived here for 25 years and have had ducks and geese from day one. This does not get any easier :'(. I fear my last girl won't be with me very long. Sorry for the sad post but I knew you guys would understand.

Calm Before The Storm

Today we started the day with a bit of snow, then rain and then for hours nothing! But, the weather weenies still say it's coming.

Bird feeders are filled, ducks are tucked in for the night one cat is curled up on a fleece blanket (not too spoiled, lol) and the other cat has decided it is time to run amuck thru the house, yikes!!

Snow blower filled and ready to go, bath tub filled, wood waiting on the porch. New Country Living arrived today  :-).

We are ready, bring it on.

Have a wonderful evening friends. Stay safe and warm. Good thoughts being sent to friends in New England.

Tuesday Auction

The dusting of snow we received last evening won't be a problem for us getting to the auction today.  But, as I was gathering my stuff together I realized I did not show you what I got last week, jezzzz leave it to me. So here you go. All of it is smalls and I still need to take a few more pictures but this is a sampling of what I sometimes find at our weekly auction in Bally, PA. My favorite is the little kids boots! But I really like it all :-). Have a good day no matter what you are doing.

Auction Time

Yep, today is our Tuesday Auction, the day we work at yet another part-time job, we have many. Not that we are complaining :-), we both love the auction scene.

I have my eye on a few things that are coming up today, we will see how that develops :-).

Antique show is coming up in the beginning of March and we need "stuff". Some would say we have "stuff" but your new "stuff" always goes first. Happy :-) because we are selling, sad :-( because it is a two day show and we want people to come in our booth the second day!

Hope all is well with you my friends. Warmer weather today, but BIG RAIN is coming tomorrow, 1-3 inches!!!

Take care, have a great day and I will be back soon.

Saturday, January 26, 2013

OH Yeah!!!

If you remember back on Tuesday of this week Les and I were off to work at the weekly auction and I was going to look at what was being called a bakers rack. Well, we had a indication that it was not a bakers rack but in fact a wooden rack from a shoe factory. I have wanted one of these racks FOREVER, FOREVER I tell you. And low and behold guess what I got? You are right!!! I got the shoe rack.

It is in pretty good shape, needs a bit of cleaning but it is solid and I paid a very fair price for it. We need to move some furniture around and send some to our booth at Weil Antique Center and some might even go to auction. But, that's okay because I got my rack and I LOVE it.

Here are two pictures of it. Nothing on it yet, just a crock on the lower shelf, but you just wait until it is decked out :-).

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of the weekend. And don't forget to go out and see that Full Wolf Moon.

WINTER!!!!!!

Well, it feels like Winter has finally arrived. 14.5 degress with a wind chill of 1 this morning. Pond is frozen on the perimeter but the middle is fine. That is where the Canada Geese stayed all night. About 35 - 40 flew in late yesterday. They are sunning themselves on the hill side now, poor guys but they are probably warmer then me :-).

Tuesdays are our work day at the auction house. Thank God we are inside!! Got my eye on what is being called a baker's rack, but I need to see what it looks like in person first.

Have a wonderful day and stay warm.

Till next time.

A picture or two

I promised that I would post pictures of our purchases from the auction last Tuesday but some how the days have been getting away from me. I did manage to snap two pictures of the wire basket though. We purchased two, one is in the shop. It was out of square so Les needed to work on it. They stack on top of each other. Les thought that they might have been a store display.

We do really well at our antique shows in New Jersey with wire/metal industrial look items so that is where they will be heading this Spring.

We did purchase other items and I will get some pictures of those items posted as well. In the mean time, What do you think of these cool baskets?

Mid-Week @ ginnysyard

We worked at our first auction of 2013 last evening. It felt good to get back to our routine. We also were successful in purchasing a few things. I will take some pictures and post them later today or in the next day or so.

It is a busy day here at our place. Workmen are down in our shop, a.k.a Duck Hilton replacing a hot water heater. It was our choice in away. We had a 40 gallon oil fired h/w heater that was going south and really was not needed any longer. So, we are getting a 6/10 (not sure) gallon electric h/w heater. It will save us on oil in the shop, that is a good thing. Also they are replacing a leaky faucet, also a good thing so I will no longer have frozen drains in the Winter.

Up at the house our handyman is repairing our front storm door, some general caulking and getting the lock to work better.

Hope everyone is having great days in 2013, I know we are trying. See you soon.

What a Friday

Without going into to much detail and bore the heck out of my readers Friday was not a good day financially for our household. Last January we purchased a 2008 Jeep Liberty (four wheel drive is a must on top of the hill). With that purchase the dealer included a lifetime engine warranty, not bad you say. What they did not tell us or even have written any where is that you must have what they call a engine flush once a year to keep the warranty in effect. Still, not bad we would only have to pay approx. $100.00 for this and we would be good to go for another year. I had a few minor issues with the Jeep and also asked that they look into them while it was there. Well............. $1700.00 later and my Jeep will be good as new or would that be used new? Ends up we need a power steering pump, a power steering rack, a alignment (cuz you need to do that after you replace the pump and rack), and rear brakes. Oh, and the engine flush. And we could not get the Jeep back in the same day! So, all my plans swirling around in my head for saving money and not having to charge anything flew right out the window. Not much I can do about it, but boy was I in a bad, bad mood yesterday. So much so, that I gave myself a headache. Feeling better today, but I am still poor :-( . Hope everyone has a great weekend. I have started to clean my work - home- our business office this week so that should keep me busy and out of trouble.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

WASN'T SURE THAT I WOULD GET TO MY BLOG TODAY, BUT I DID AND SO I SAY TO ALL MY FRIENDS.
