Full Pink Moon

Tonite, April 25, 2013 will be the night of the Full Pink Moon.

Named the Pink Moon because it heralded the appearance of the moss pink, or wild ground phlox-one of the first spring flowers.

Others names are Full Sprouting Grass Moon (yep that would be my yard), Full Egg Moon, Full Fish Moon.

I wonder if it is called Full Egg Moon because chickens start laying more? Thoughts on this chicken gals?

And maybe it was called Full Fish Moon because fish become active? Our pond is getting active. We are starting to see more fish swimming and yesterday a fish jumped out to catch a bug. Never get to see them but we do hear them do this.

Just might be something to these other names.....

Have a great night, go out and check that moon out, I know I will.

  1. Thanks Ginny, you will find me patiently waiting to view this pink moon...

  2. Sadly we had cloud coverage here in the valley, but learning about it's origin is so exciting !
Awesome picture and thanks for sharing the info Ginny :)
