Happy September one and all. Busy, busy is all I can say. Summer has been way too hot to work out doors and cleaning out a house and barn, but that is where our work takes us and we are not done yet. Hope everyone had a wonderful Summer so far, it's not over yet!! Hope to get back to blogging, we shall see.

Last Auction of the Year

Yep, one more auction to go then we are done for the year. Whew, what a year it has been. Learned alot, grew thicker skin on what we will take on consignment and had a BALL doing it all. Tomorrow we will setting up the fire hall with 12 different consignments (that is 12 customers that we took on). Some have only a few bits and some have LOTS!! Truck was loaded today by myself, Les (hubby) a good friend and a friend of hers and we kicked butt, lol. Wish us luck that we have a good turnout, the weather looks great which is not always a good thing, people want to be out and about this time of year. But, we will plug along. Be back next week with the highlights.

September ?, how did that happen

I am a tad bit early ( by hours, lol) but I found myself with a few minutes and knew I had to change my blog. I missed all of August.

Our auction business is keeping us very, very busy and we are headed into September with six auctions to do.

I do hope everyone has had a wonderful, care free Summer. I will try to post more as I do enjoy it!! Just need to find the time.

Be well my friends!!

I'm Still Around

I can't believe the last time I posted was in March. WOW. Life happens when you would rather be doing something else, lol. Our auction business has really taken off and is keeping Les and myself super busy. Hope to post again real soon. Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoying all of your blogs!!

Wednesday's Words

Not a whole lot of things going on at Ginnysyard.

We took a ride to a consignment shop that we heard is going out of business to drop off Les' auction business cards. The lady at the desk said the owner has spoken to auctioneers just has not made a decision, so she is going to pass along the info. Hopefully he will hear something. Winter is a slow time for auctions, especially when you are just getting started, lots of advertising, phone ringing, door knocking just to get your name and face out there.

We got above freezing today, but the sun was not as strong as yesterday, so very little melting is going on.

Hope you are having a wonderful day. I will check in again.

One Month Closer Till.....

Hi Everyone, By the lack of my posts you can see I missed December and January, not sure what I did with all that time but I am back. I did keep up with everyone from time to time and when I could I did comment. So, the title of my post is One Month Closer, hmm...What could that mean. Well, it's one month closer to Spring and one month closer to our Tailgate Auctions. We had a great time doing them and meeting new people that Les decided he wanted to keep it going. Watch this blog, Les's facebook page, his blog and auctionzip for updates. I can tell you that they will be starting in April (weather permitting).

Speaking of weather, we are getting ready for another storm here in Pennsylvania and I know many of my followers are too. Soup is simmering on the stove in case we lose power tomorrow, snowblower is on the porch and the bird feeders will be re-filled later today. Firewood, candles, batteries are always at the ready, so we are good.

February is the month of many things here are a few;

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, will he or won't he see is shadow?

Have a great Sunday!

Final One

Well we are down to our final Tailgate Auction for the season. After many rain cancellations we were able to pull off last Thursday and we give it a go tomorrow. We are really enjoying ourselves and getting to know a lot of people. This is what is has always been fro the beginning, Les getting his name out there and we feel that we have succeeded!! We are making contacts and getting calls for him to come and see peoples collections, big smile here :-). Hope all is well with you my friends. Have a wonderful day.

Two Under Our Belts

Yes, we now have two auctions under our belt. Both were Tailgate Auctions and both came with minor blips and burps but none the less they were a success and we are learning.

Has this weather not been great (at least here in our neck of the woods). And as we prepare for another auction I fear that the weather may not be so kind to us. Below is the info on our next up coming auction. If the October 16th sale is cancelled do to rain we then will have it on October 23th. If you are in the area, won't you join us? We would love to see you.

Auctioneer in the Family!

Yes friends, Les is now a licenced Pennsylvania Auctioneer. He has passed all his tests and has his licence in his hands. It has been framed and now must be hung up. By law, it has to be displayed in case the Commonwealth of PA comes knockin' on the door.

And equally good news we are getting ready for our first auction. Below is our is our announcement. If you live in our area we would love for you to come and join us. Or, if you ever have questions or items that you would like to send to auction please keep us in mind.

June!!

June, how did you sneak up on me? Not sure where May went, but onto Summer we march. Les and I are STILL waiting for his transcripts, can you hear my fingers tapping? Our hands are tied until he takes the state test and passes (I have complete faith in him that he will pass, even if he does not ) before we can move forward. So to pass the time we talk and talk some more about our future auction company and in between we do yard work. Two hours behind a push mower today for me and two hours on the tractor for Les and do you think we are done, HA!! but we are getting there. Hope you are having a good day and great weather. I was a porch monkey :-) all weekend, it was perfect on the screen porch for looking at old Country Living magazines and reading the newspapers. Have a wonderful evening everyone.

Waiting

Waiting can make one a bit CRAZY. Les passed his final exam for auctioneers school but must now wait until he is snail mailed the transcripts. At the same time his copy is mailed the testing center in TN will also be mailed a copy.

Once he has his, we then snail mail a copy of the transcript along with $220.00 and a very simple application requesting to take the PA state exam. Once TN has the money, the app and the transcript (even though they have one already) they will snail mail the testing center info to him. He then calls the testing center to set-up a time.

Really people? in this day and age of computers all of this must go thru the USPS?

So, we are looking at Les possibly having his auctioneers license by mid to late July, yes we started this when it was still Winter and we will be entering late Summer when he has the paper in hand. Until that time we are waiting and going CRAZY!

Special Month

Happy May Everyone! Hope that the weather is changing for the better for all of you. We have had nice days and not some nice days, but like the saying goes "Don't like the weather, wait an hour and it will change.

May is a special month for me/us. First off it is our anniversary and this year it is our 40TH!! Wow, really where has the time gone? Other then dinner out, we our laying low. This Winter/Early Spring has been very costly at the old farmhouse, oil, plumbing, etc. But we will get to celebrate again this month when Les (hubby) graduates from Auctioneering school. And while he will not officially be an auctioneer until he takes the state exam and passes he will officially be done with school on May 14th. It has been a long 10 weeks for us both but I am so proud of him, that he had the courage at his age (62) to decide it was time to make a change for the both of us.

Looking forward to working side by side with my auctioneer :-). Please keep him/us in your thoughts and once he passes I will let you know. And maybe we can do an auction for you!!

Yep this was the year we became husband and wife.

Here are a few pictures of our "special day"

Happy April

I just realized that it has been well over a month since I posted a blog. Just one of those things that I wanted to do, but didn't. Winter really took it's toll on my mental health. Just couldn't get up and do anything. I was very content to sit and read blogs and facebook and watch stupid tv. Hoping that the nicer weather that we should get will put me on the right track.

Lots going on at ginnysyard and I will post about it. Just not today, as this is a work day for me and that I must get up and do.

Hope you have a great day and not too many people play tricks on you!

Happy April Fool's Day.

Waiting on another storm

Hope all is well with everyone. Here in PA and many other places on the East coast we are waiting for another snowstorm. Anywhere from 12-18 inches is what the weather wieners are saying we could get. Les and I so have cabin fever that it has even rubbed off on to the cats, they were wild today, hissing, spitting, fighting they got it all in or should I say out today!

Thought I would share some February bits with you. These come from the Farmers Almanac.

Feb. 10th (a bit late) - When lunar gardening, the best time to start seeds for annuals and leafy vegetables is between the new and first quarter Moons. Anyone start their seeds yet?

Feb. 12th - St Eulalie Day. If the sun smiles on St. Eulalie's day, It is good for apples and cider they say. Sun was out here for a bit, maybe it helps the buds on the trees?

Feb. 14th - St.Valentine's Day. Hug your honey, it will help keep you warm.

Feb. 14th - Full Snow Moon. Sure hope it stops snowing by then so we can see the moon. Also, Snowdrop flowers may bloom this month, even through the snow. Don't bring them into the house as cut flowers, as it is considered bad luck. With all the cold weather , frozen ground, ice and snow if the little snowdrops will poke their heads up?

And some very special news that I can finally share with you, Les will be starting Auctioneers School in March. This is something that he has thought long and hard about and decided that it was now or never. I will keep you posted on his progress.

Have a good evening, stay safe if you need to travel in the East over the next few days.

Mid January

Good Evening Everyone!

It's already January 15th and I have not wished all of my friends a very Happy New Year. My last post was about our antiques show in November and then I think I went to sleep, lol.

What we thought was going to be a kick back and chill December turned out just the opposite. We worked three weekends with our auctioneer in additional to our regular Tuesday auctions of which some were cancelled thus having to pick-up Saturday/Sunday work.

We were also expecting family/friend to come for Christmas/New Year's visit but that did not happen which I do have to say weather played a part in that.

And then the Wednesday before Christmas my last duck past away. This hit me like a ton of bricks. I raised ducks from day one of moving to Pennsylvania way back in February of 1988. I am getting better, but I do forget and say to my self  "oh I need to go check on the duck".

So, now we are in mid January and stuff is happening which I will save for another post, that way I won't be at a lost for words and not blog, like that would ever happen.

Have a good evening and if you have a clear sky, go check out that Full Wolf Moon.

Hazy, Hot and Humid

Please note: I may have posted to the Herbal Bouquet in error, see I said I get squirrely from being in the AC too long.

So, let's try this again. Yep the three H's are upon us. And if you have not been warm enough, the Dog Days of Summer began today. We have been getting rain just about every day or night for weeks now, and it appears that we are in this strange weather pattern thru Wednesday of next week.

Les and I have just come off a busy June full of auctions and pic-ups for the auctions. So, we are looking for a bit of down time. But, Summer is the time for auctions and since we making this one source of our income, guess where we will be in July?  We will be doing our weekly Tuesday auction a pick-up with one of the auctioneers and then another auction mid-July, so we won't have too much down time. And when the rain stops or lets up a bit I need to go outside with a big ole weed wacker and wack away, lol.

We wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. Enjoy your day with family and friends and be safe.

Talk to you all real soon.

Tuesday Auction

Yep, today like every Tuesday Les and I get to work at Tom Lorah Auction. And every once in awhile we get something that we collect (oh lordy) and something to pass on to our customers. Hope you all have a wonderful day. If I get any great finds, I will give you gals a peek.

Really, I should start snapping pictures of what we have for sale around here. LOL

Weather around here may get wet, so I will be packing my umbrella.

Catch-up at Ginnysyard

It has been over a month since I last posted. I read everyone's blog but just didn't have the get up and go to post on mine :-(. But last nite I was going thru my blog roll and realized that one of my favorite blogs was no longer in operation, So, I got thinking I better hold on to the 21 followers that I have and give you ladies a update.

So, since I last posted this is what has happened;

Les and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary, not sure where all those years went!

We now have a new great, great niece named Teagen Lakota, that is a mouth full. Baby and Mom are doing good.

Mother's Day, Family and Friends Birthdays.

Full Strawberry Moon, I hear local strawberries are in, need to get some of those.

Booked our Late Spring/Summer schedule with our two auctioneers. Boy are we going to be busy bees :-).

Got the screened porch pretty much ready for some serious porch sitting with family and friends.

Memorial Day of which Les and I worked two auctions that weekend.

And now we are smack in the middle of a heat wave, in the SPRING!!

Coming up for us is work tomorrow, a pick-up with one of our auctioneers.

Les's Birthday on Monday.

A fun filled June with auctions o'plenty, lol.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and weekend.

I really am going to try to do better, but you will notice I did not mention my yard. Can anyone guess what did not get done this past month.

More photo's of our Booth

Here are some additional photo's of our booth. I should add that some of the items in these photo's sold two days after I shot these. Now that is what we call a quick turn around. BIG SMILE.

The pile of wood items (really shutters and some type of wood hangers) were a few of the items that sold. We really have very good luck with any type of shutters that we sell. Hey maybe I am selling them too cheap, lol.

The blue and white bowl in the lower right corner is another item that sold. It is from Bavaria/Germany, good shape, no chips.

As you can see, still plenty of items, but this week I will be taking more in and moving things around. A day in the life of a antiques dealer who has lots of stuff, lol.

Have a great day!! Off to work at our Tuesday Auction and maybe find another treasure of two. Oh wait, didn't I just say we have too much stuff!!! Ha Ha

Tuesday Auction

The dusting of snow we received last evening won't be a problem for us getting to the auction today.  But, as I was gathering my stuff together I realized I did not show you what I got last week, jezzzz leave it to me. So here you go. All of it is smalls and I still need to take a few more pictures but this is a sampling of what I sometimes find at our weekly auction in Bally, PA. My favorite is the little kids boots! But I really like it all :-). Have a good day no matter what you are doing.
