Hello Snow

I know you are thinking that my fingers typed in the wrong title. NOT, yes once again again friends it is snowing in Eastern Pa, BIG frown :-(. But, in Mother Nature's defense (am I really typing that), lol it is still Winter.

It will not be offically Spring until 6:45pm EST. So, until then I will deal with it and try not to look out the window. But, at the stroke of 6:45pm I am done with Winter!!!

Have a great day where ever you are. Enjoy your weekend if I don't get back here because I am outside shoveling!!

Full Pink Moon

Tonite, April 25, 2013 will be the night of the Full Pink Moon.

Named the Pink Moon because it heralded the appearance of the moss pink, or wild ground phlox-one of the first spring flowers.

Others names are Full Sprouting Grass Moon (yep that would be my yard), Full Egg Moon, Full Fish Moon.

I wonder if it is called Full Egg Moon because chickens start laying more? Thoughts on this chicken gals?

And maybe it was called Full Fish Moon because fish become active? Our pond is getting active. We are starting to see more fish swimming and yesterday a fish jumped out to catch a bug. Never get to see them but we do hear them do this.

Just might be something to these other names.....

Have a great night, go out and check that moon out, I know I will.

More photo's of our Booth

Here are some additional photo's of our booth. I should add that some of the items in these photo's sold two days after I shot these. Now that is what we call a quick turn around. BIG SMILE.

The pile of wood items (really shutters and some type of wood hangers) were a few of the items that sold. We really have very good luck with any type of shutters that we sell. Hey maybe I am selling them too cheap, lol.

The blue and white bowl in the lower right corner is another item that sold. It is from Bavaria/Germany, good shape, no chips.

As you can see, still plenty of items, but this week I will be taking more in and moving things around. A day in the life of a antiques dealer who has lots of stuff, lol.

Have a great day!! Off to work at our Tuesday Auction and maybe find another treasure of two. Oh wait, didn't I just say we have too much stuff!!! Ha Ha

Our Booth

From time to time I have spoken about our booth at Weil Antique Center and I thought it was about time I give you gals a look at what we have to offer. Our booth is a 9 x 10, I believe.

This is a picture of the back wall. The wire basket/shelf things are not old, but I got them at a good price and sometimes I can move things like that.

Who doesn't love chicken crates. It's been awhile seen we have been able to pick any up, but we got this one at our Tuesday Auction that Les and I work at.

Les and I both love signs, very surprised that this has not moved on yet. Also, in this picture is tobacco tins, buttons in mason jars, band boxes (not old) and a serving set of blue willow on the wall table.
So, there you have it. I have more but I don't want to bore everyone with photo's and this way I have more for another post.

While not all our merchandise is antique, it is what is selling in our region currently. And one must go with the flow or go broke :-).

Have a wonderful rest of the day and a good evening. Is is beautiful out here in Williams Township, PA.

Full Moon

Good Day Everyone. I noticed today that I last posted on the first weekend of this month. And here it is just about the last weekend of the month.

Have not felt much like posting, being in a funk. Can't get moving. I am sure the weather does have something to do with it, but still can't make myself get on with stuff.

I am still working part-time and I need to resign myself that this is what it will be until there is no more company. One would think that getting paid for four days work and doing about one day of work would make me happy. But, no just not cutting it. How silly is this?

Full moon tonite will be the Full Worm Moon. It is called this because as the Sun increasingly warms the soil, earthworms become active. Okay, now all we need is the Sun!

Happy Passover to all of my Jewish friends.

Maybe I can push myself to come back before Easter, we will see.

Calm Before The Storm

Today we started the day with a bit of snow, then rain and then for hours nothing! But, the weather weenies still say it's coming.

Bird feeders are filled, ducks are tucked in for the night one cat is curled up on a fleece blanket (not too spoiled, lol) and the other cat has decided it is time to run amuck thru the house, yikes!!

Snow blower filled and ready to go, bath tub filled, wood waiting on the porch. New Country Living arrived today  :-).

We are ready, bring it on.

Have a wonderful evening friends. Stay safe and warm. Good thoughts being sent to friends in New England.

WINTER!!!!!!

Well, it feels like Winter has finally arrived. 14.5 degress with a wind chill of 1 this morning. Pond is frozen on the perimeter but the middle is fine. That is where the Canada Geese stayed all night. About 35 - 40 flew in late yesterday. They are sunning themselves on the hill side now, poor guys but they are probably warmer then me :-).

Tuesdays are our work day at the auction house. Thank God we are inside!! Got my eye on what is being called a baker's rack, but I need to see what it looks like in person first.

Have a wonderful day and stay warm.

Till next time.

A picture or two

I promised that I would post pictures of our purchases from the auction last Tuesday but some how the days have been getting away from me. I did manage to snap two pictures of the wire basket though. We purchased two, one is in the shop. It was out of square so Les needed to work on it. They stack on top of each other. Les thought that they might have been a store display.

We do really well at our antique shows in New Jersey with wire/metal industrial look items so that is where they will be heading this Spring.

We did purchase other items and I will get some pictures of those items posted as well. In the mean time, What do you think of these cool baskets?

December, How Did you get here?

I bet many of us are asking the same question (s), it's December already or Where did the year go? Hope everyone is doing well, by the sounds of your blogs it seems you are. Busy as bees, but that's what this time of the year is all about. Here in Williams Township it is quite warm today, over 50. So the heat is off and the door is open. I suspect it will be one of the last few days to do this.

Not looking like Christmas around here yet, hoping to fix that soo, just haven't got into the spirit yet :-(, not sure why, just not feeling it yet.

Can't make this too long as I have work to do today for my real job. Talk to everyone soon. Have a geat day.

P.S. Don't worry, the pond does not look like this yet, just need to change that header picture.

All Ready For The Big One

So, by now everyone must know we are waiting the arrival of Sandy, no not a friend! Hurricane Sandy, Tropical Storm Sandy, Pain in the butt Sandy, I could go on but I think you get the picture. I cooked some one pot meals today in case we lose power which I am sure we will, but I can heat them up on the woodstove. Even our power company thinks so too. I got a e-mail yesterday to be prepared for three days without power and this evening I got a call from the robo and it said be prepared to be without power for seven, ugh. Les and I covered things, moved things and stowed away things. If Sandy should take them, then we were not meant to have them :-). Candles, lanterns, matches, dry wood are all at the ready. We have a half and half celler, half dirt floor and half cement floor, so there will be water, not much we can do there, no generator, just never found the cash to buy one and have it hooked up. Storms windows are pulled down, bathtub filled up (so we can flush), cause once we lose power we lose everything, no water, no toilet, no heat, no stove. Ducks are snug and kitties are too. Stay safe all my East Coast friends and family, keep us in your thoughts.

September, Where did you go

Good Evening All. Is anyone else wondering what happened to September? It seems like it just was Labor Day Weekend!

Tonite is the Full Harvest Moon, so named because it occurs closest the the autmnal equinox. It was pretty bright last evening, so if you didn't see it then, try tonite. I love when I get up at night and the yard is all aglow from the full moon, just makes everything seem alright.

We had a gathering of long time friends at our home yesterday. Weather could have been better, but a good time was had by all.

This week we are getting ready for a auction that we are having for a client of ours, this is the third and final auction. Then we have three more auctions that we will be working at before we get a break.

No rest for the weary, and we like it just fine. Have a wonderful Fall evening wherever you are. Here is a picture that I borrowed of the Harvest Moon.

Not So Busy Week

Good Monday Morning, This week will bring a slower pace for Les and myself. Last week we were setting up a auction which took place on Friday, but not this week.

This morning we will head out to a work aquanitance of mine who has sold her home and has some "stuff" we may be interested in. Her husband has collected tools and what have you over the years, so we will see. Lately we have been pretty selective in what we are purchasing due to the economy. People are having a hard enough time filling the gas tank and putting food on the table. So, the last thing they need to buy is collectiables and antiques.

We will be getting guests, both family and friends later this month so we are not without things to do. We also are saving our energy for one last BIG auction for our friends who we have been doing a house cleanout for. This will be the last of three auctions we have had for them.

Have a great day and a great week if I don't get back here to say Hello.

THREADS.....The magazine

How many of you remember this magazine? How many are addicted to magazines and cannot throw any away? How many of you still have Threads Magazine from Oct./Nov. 1985 (Premier Issue) thru Aug./Sept. 1991? Well I can answer YES to all of the above questions. But, it is time to get rid of stuff and Threads is one of the items that will be leaving my office closet. I tried selling them a few years back and I could not. But, that was before I blogged and now I will offer them to you my friends. It is a total of over 30 magazines and a quick look thru and it does appear that I am missing any, so they are complete years. I would like to get $30.00 for all plus shipping. If you are inerested in them, please e-mail me @ duckslady@gmail.com. I will keep them until Wednesday August 8th, 2012. Garbage man comes bright and early Thursday morning and as much as it will pain me I have to let them go. Have a great Saturday!!

Cool Baths & Frozen Peas

The above title says it all, for The Duck Hilton that is!! Many of you know that I have ducks and did raise quite a few at one time. I am down to just three senior ducks now. Two girls, they are Black Ducks, hence our antiques business name and one male, who is a Pekin. Danger Duck, the Pekin is older then the girls and does not get around real well. He is blind in one eye and is pretty lame. So, sometimes he gets stuck in corners, etc. and just waits for me to find him and help him out. With all of the hot, humid weather we have been having I have taken to putting him in our laundry tub filled with cool water. Oh, what a blast he has!! :-). My two girls can still get around and they take care of themselves with a plastic tub of water. But, while DD is getting his bath, he and the girls get frozen peas as snacks. OMG, who knew that was the next best thing to sliced bread, or at least my ducks think so. So, if you have ducks maybe even chickens try the frozen peas, I like to think it is to them what a ice pop is to us. Have a wonderful evening and great weekend my friends.

Dog Days of Summer

The Dog Days of Summer 2012 have begun. Actually they started on Tuesday, same day as the Full Moon.

The DDOS will last until August 11th. With many of us having weird weather let us all hope the DDOS will not be too bad. Found this piece of clipart, thought it might cool us off. Have a wonderful evening.

HOT, HOT, HOT

I think the above picture says it all about now. I cannot believe that just two states, Washington and Alaska are not feeling this heat wave. It is 9:35 p.m. here in Williams Township, a.k.a Hellertown, PA and it is 91 degrees. I'm going to have a ice pop or two. Stay cool everyone and have a great weekend!!

New Items on E-Crater

Good Evening Blog Friends. It's yet another chilly evening here in Williams Township, but the sun today was wonderful. So, while the sun was shining Les and I went up to our attic to go through our stash. We pulled down three totes of stuff of which most will be going on my e-crater store. Please check it out at the bottom of my blog. We have added some items and will be adding more over the next couple of days. If you are looking for anything in particular, let us know. You just never know what we have hidden away. Have a great evening and don't forget to check out my store.
