Happy Valentine's Day

A bit late with my wishes, but the thought was there all day. Getting ready for the cold, brutal weather
that is headed our way. We had snow off and on today and it's not done yet. Sometime this evening we are going to be hit with a snow squall that will produce whiteout conditions and bring the cold, cold air with it.

Having said all that, we have the tub filled, wood stacked, candles and lanterns at the ready along with sloppy joes and tomato sauce made. The weather people are anticipating lose of power and if that does happen it could be longer then 24 hours. We have a Winter Weather Advisory, High Wind Warning and a Wind Chill Advisory. Winds will be 25 to 35 mph with gusts from 50 to 60 mph. This was not how I would chose to spend my Valentine's Day, but it had to be done or we could be in trouble when this hits.

Have a good evening, stay warm and safe if you are in this latest storms path.

Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th, day before St.Valentine's Day, hmm I bet there will be lots of voo doo going on, lol.

Hope everyone is well and if you are in the East, hope that you are staying warm. It is down right brutal out here in Eastern Pennsylvania and it is going to get worse before it gets better. So, today we are going out to run errands, fill the tank in the Jeep and do what we have to do to prepare for the snow, dangerous wind chills and possible power outages (yep you read that right) power outages for longer then 24 hours could occur to do the High Wind Advisory that goes in effect on Saturday evening until sometime on Sunday.

Take care, have a great day and I will post a picture (s) of what I spotted in my yard the other day ( you will love it).

Mid-Week

Off to our booth at Weil Antiques Center today. Sale starts tomorrow, so I need to add a few things and freshen it. Sale runs thru Tuesday, so it covers St.Valentine's Day and Presidents Day. Check it out if you live in the area.

Bright sun shining today, should go above 32, yippy!! But, I believe that might be it for temps above freezing for a few days :-(.

Have a great day!

One Month Closer Till.....

Hi Everyone, By the lack of my posts you can see I missed December and January, not sure what I did with all that time but I am back. I did keep up with everyone from time to time and when I could I did comment. So, the title of my post is One Month Closer, hmm...What could that mean. Well, it's one month closer to Spring and one month closer to our Tailgate Auctions. We had a great time doing them and meeting new people that Les decided he wanted to keep it going. Watch this blog, Les's facebook page, his blog and auctionzip for updates. I can tell you that they will be starting in April (weather permitting).

Speaking of weather, we are getting ready for another storm here in Pennsylvania and I know many of my followers are too. Soup is simmering on the stove in case we lose power tomorrow, snowblower is on the porch and the bird feeders will be re-filled later today. Firewood, candles, batteries are always at the ready, so we are good.

February is the month of many things here are a few;

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, will he or won't he see is shadow?

Have a great Sunday!

Waiting on another storm

Hope all is well with everyone. Here in PA and many other places on the East coast we are waiting for another snowstorm. Anywhere from 12-18 inches is what the weather wieners are saying we could get. Les and I so have cabin fever that it has even rubbed off on to the cats, they were wild today, hissing, spitting, fighting they got it all in or should I say out today!

Thought I would share some February bits with you. These come from the Farmers Almanac.

Feb. 10th (a bit late) - When lunar gardening, the best time to start seeds for annuals and leafy vegetables is between the new and first quarter Moons. Anyone start their seeds yet?

Feb. 12th - St Eulalie Day. If the sun smiles on St. Eulalie's day, It is good for apples and cider they say. Sun was out here for a bit, maybe it helps the buds on the trees?

Feb. 14th - St.Valentine's Day. Hug your honey, it will help keep you warm.

Feb. 14th - Full Snow Moon. Sure hope it stops snowing by then so we can see the moon. Also, Snowdrop flowers may bloom this month, even through the snow. Don't bring them into the house as cut flowers, as it is considered bad luck. With all the cold weather , frozen ground, ice and snow if the little snowdrops will poke their heads up?

And some very special news that I can finally share with you, Les will be starting Auctioneers School in March. This is something that he has thought long and hard about and decided that it was now or never. I will keep you posted on his progress.

Have a good evening, stay safe if you need to travel in the East over the next few days.
