Nothing New Thursday

Happy Thursday Everyone. Sitting here looking out the window as I type watching the birds flying from here to there trying to stay warm I am sure. It looks beautiful out there in Eastern Pa but boy is it ever windy. Our high which was in the upper 20's was reached early this morning. We also had a dusting of snow but once the snow stopped the winds picked up and have not stopped yet. Got all of my errands done before it was too cold out this morning and  I am still thinking about going out into the shop and poke around in totes for things to take to our booth at Weil Antiques. I have been very good about going to our booth once a week and it certainly has paid off for us.

Hope you are enjoying your Thursday wherever you are. Have a great afternoon and evening, going down in the single digits tonight, so I won't be straying far from my recliner and blanket!

One Month Closer Till.....

Hi Everyone, By the lack of my posts you can see I missed December and January, not sure what I did with all that time but I am back. I did keep up with everyone from time to time and when I could I did comment. So, the title of my post is One Month Closer, hmm...What could that mean. Well, it's one month closer to Spring and one month closer to our Tailgate Auctions. We had a great time doing them and meeting new people that Les decided he wanted to keep it going. Watch this blog, Les's facebook page, his blog and auctionzip for updates. I can tell you that they will be starting in April (weather permitting).

Speaking of weather, we are getting ready for another storm here in Pennsylvania and I know many of my followers are too. Soup is simmering on the stove in case we lose power tomorrow, snowblower is on the porch and the bird feeders will be re-filled later today. Firewood, candles, batteries are always at the ready, so we are good.

February is the month of many things here are a few;

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day, will he or won't he see is shadow?

Have a great Sunday!

Waiting on another storm

Hope all is well with everyone. Here in PA and many other places on the East coast we are waiting for another snowstorm. Anywhere from 12-18 inches is what the weather wieners are saying we could get. Les and I so have cabin fever that it has even rubbed off on to the cats, they were wild today, hissing, spitting, fighting they got it all in or should I say out today!

Thought I would share some February bits with you. These come from the Farmers Almanac.

Feb. 10th (a bit late) - When lunar gardening, the best time to start seeds for annuals and leafy vegetables is between the new and first quarter Moons. Anyone start their seeds yet?

Feb. 12th - St Eulalie Day. If the sun smiles on St. Eulalie's day, It is good for apples and cider they say. Sun was out here for a bit, maybe it helps the buds on the trees?

Feb. 14th - St.Valentine's Day. Hug your honey, it will help keep you warm.

Feb. 14th - Full Snow Moon. Sure hope it stops snowing by then so we can see the moon. Also, Snowdrop flowers may bloom this month, even through the snow. Don't bring them into the house as cut flowers, as it is considered bad luck. With all the cold weather , frozen ground, ice and snow if the little snowdrops will poke their heads up?

And some very special news that I can finally share with you, Les will be starting Auctioneers School in March. This is something that he has thought long and hard about and decided that it was now or never. I will keep you posted on his progress.

Have a good evening, stay safe if you need to travel in the East over the next few days.

Full Snow Moon

February's Full Moon was called the Snow Moon because it was a time of heavy snow. It was also called the Hunger Moon because hunting was difficult and hunger often resulted. Well, some of us may get a bit of Snow tomorrow but it certainly should not be a heavy snow (fingers crossed!!) Hope that you can go out tonite and catch a glimpse of the moon.

Time, where does it go?

I cannot believe that it is already February 1st. Seems like it was just New Year's Day and here we are getting ready for Super Bowl Sunday. Not us, we are not football people, but that is okay we can't all be alike, lol. Well, this year I had thought that I was going to start to blog more, well we can all see that didn't happen. But, I can't say that I have not been busy. Les and I now work for two auctioneers, one every week and the other once or twice a month. We have already did one antique show and are getting ready to do another on the 25th of this month. Plus doing my real job, which I just found out that I will be going on part-time unemployment :(, not happy, but at least I have a job. So, maybe that's why I haven't been posting. Well, I wanted to make this longer but I just got really tired, so I will close for now and I will try and post some more real soon. Still have info to share with all my blog friends.

But, it's still Winter and it's February, seems like it's been Winter since Novemeber!! I do not have off today, but I won't be too busy, just don't have alot of work when you work in construction and it's WINTER, have I said that enough, LOL. We will start to get ready for a show this coming Saturday, it's in Long Valley, NJ. First time setting up. More info to follow on the show, etc.

February

Well, we turned the page on the calender to February, but we did not turn the page on the weather. I don't believe that there is anyone that will not be touched by this latest storm that is upon us. Though, by the blogs that I am reading we are all becoming old hands that this. We are all stocked up on the usual staples, bread, eggs and milk. Candles are at the ready, wood has been brought in, extra water is on hand. For some, their favorite garden books or magazines are spread out across the Kitchen table, cup of tea near by while they thumb their way thru Spring. While others have their handy work at the ready if the power should go out. For me, I decided that today will be the day I tackle the work/home office. Time to file papers (ugh), work on the books for the business and just tidy up in general. Whatever you are planning on doing this 1st day of February, be safe, stay warm and enjoy!!
